Club Factory: The Fakes Factory of INDIA
·
· January 29, 2020

- e-commerce Chinese company Club Factory claims a rapid growth in India, but it is driving in the wrong lane for the Indian e-commerce highway.
- After the constant growth club factory started selling fake products in Indian markets. Over this firm is labeling fake products across categories such as creams, kajal, bags, perfumes, earphones of sony as “CF Verified” to grabthe trust of the consumers.
- A quick search on the app is showing 50 listings for fake “Titan” watches, with discounts as high as 76%. A watch of Rs 4499 is offered for as low as Rs999. Surprisingly, all these items are verified by Club Factory, which promotes that these products are having good durability and something that is subject to “5 quality checks and 12 strict guidelines”. Looking further, Chanel’s popular fragrances — “No. 5” and “Gabrielle” — after an 87% discount is offered at Rs520 – likely the fake nature of the goods by this company.

Othe deceit items like perfumes of Christian Dior and All Other leading brands. Lipsticks and foundation from Lakme are priced down from Rs 999 to Rs199 and follow the same certified stamp for a good -quality product.
- Two agents tasked with sourcing products from China . on the condition for anonymity, the company got off to a rough start as the Indian customs cracked down on undervalued cheap Chinese imports that were meant to be Club Factory’s cost advantage.
- Club Factory is showing a casual approach to certifying fake personal care products such as Hindustan Unilever’s India, Keshking oil & Shampoo as the high-quality product offered at half the cost. Still, more doubt is a knock-off of Baby Oil — a skincare oil for pregnant women which helps them to reduce the stretch marks during pregnancy. Costs at a steep discount of 75% it’s marketed as recommended use for pregnant women from the second trimester.
- “It is Club Factory which is known for its treading dangerous ground legally and that is why it has not nominated any Chinese executive for the position of a director in India — in order to protect Chinese people to face legal action.
- Club Factory demand for the production volumes is decreasing from the beginning of 2k20 due to poor customer satisfaction. In fact, Club Factory Facebook & Instagram pages are filled up with buyer complaints up-to 50 days delay in fulfillment of product, damaged products, and a complex return process.
- While leading Marketplaces are rolling out Anti-Counterfeiting programs like Amazon’s Project and Snapdeal Brand Shield, Club Factory has been getting ahead of itself by not only listing fakes but also endorsing them through their “CF verified” certification process.
- Fashion accessories like sunglasses are a large selection of fakes on Club Factory. Brands like Ray-Ban, Police, Salvatore Ferragamo, Louis Vuitton, Gucci have priced at a fraction of the prices of genuine products at there website. For instance, Ray-Ban glasses are original costs around Rs 6,999 in the offer during markdown of 90% for a mere Rs 999 are also certified by Club Factory.
- The Chinese firm, however, is unfazed and says it operates within the legal contours. “We have stringent guidelines to ensure the quality of a product is not compromised. While we have strict measures in place, we also welcome the users and partners to highlight in case they find any product not in order. If found to be true, we will not only remove those products but also take necessary action against the particular seller” said a Club Factory spokesperson in a response to our detailed questionnaire.
- The platform’s endorsement of counterfeit products through The “CF Verified” program finds an extensive presence on its footwear Categories. Shoes by Nike are “marked down” by 81% from Rs14,99 to Rs1,999. Slippers by puma and Adidas are at a discount of 75%.
- It appears that Club factory is trying to cover up these observations by planting/promoting fake reviews - a pair of Nike slippers marked as fake by many buyers have hundreds of positive comments by a user who goes only by the cryptic name. Club Factory seems to be in no hurry to stem such bogus reviews of knock-off products.
Club factory peddling of fakes is bound to raise the hackles of both brands and regulators trying to Safeguard to there own brand and protect consumer’s rights, respectively.
- I would like to share one recent news on club factory
